Compliments of the New York Herald Newspaper - European Edition. [in promotional miniature hand bill size- rare ephemeral survival of an ocean liner novelty issued in conjunction with one of the leading national newspaper's of the day].
Published c. 1900, New York by the New York Herald.
Folding self-promotional photographic and color lithography pamphlet. Text in English. Map at interior. Rare.
Publisher's pictorial art nouveau color lithographed paper wrappers, a larger sheet multi-folded down twice creating five panels in four sizes. Oblong funnel color panel, fine panoramic harbor view of Antwerp Belgium in another, a color ocean voyage theme map and a rear cover with useful travel information relating to time, ship bells and metric measurements. Front cover is an inspired front page newspaper set within views and ship rope used as an outline.
A delightful and charming little miniature newspaper which has an aspect of being almost a folding toy. Great miniature cover. All promotional folding paper items from the early 20th century survive by mere happenstance or luck. The small distribution point of these only adds to the narrow chances of encountering any lucky survivors such as this.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Paper covers gently age worn, slight rubbing, An old horizontal crease across the item, remains overall clean and attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, signs of handling, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. The fragile pamphlet displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this charming little item survives.
