Period full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands, gilt title lettering on contrasting red leather label.
Each issue was separately published, and indeed, many of the issues within this bound volume display signs of once having been folded down the middle long ago, as if either sent through the post or carried in a pocket folded in half prior to being bound like this.
A monumental compendium of articles, including endless reports about Missionary activities among numerous Indian tribes such as Oneida, Osage, Choctaws, Seneca, also New Zealand natives, Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) natives, Gypsies, Judaism, Islamic countries, Ceylon, South Sea islands, on and on- hundreds of hours of reading.
Book remains tight and displays a unique age patina. Text block toned and spotted, small age defects, clearly well browsed throughout the years. Leather binding scuffed, splitting down rear joint and at head of spine, still tight and sound.
