History of the Sheffield Scientific School of Yale University: 1846-1922, by Russell H. Chittenden.
Published 1928, New Haven, Connecticut by the Yale University Press.
2 volumes. 610 pages. Text in English. Frontispiece in each volume, extensively illustrated throughout with full page plates. Subscriber's list at front of volume 1.
Period 1/2 leather bindings, smooth spines, gilt bands & title lettering, cloth covers, deckled edges. Vol. 1 signed by author. Limited subscriber's edition of 125 copies.
Set is approaching 100 years old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings gently age worn, leather rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed, small chipping and short splits to leather at spine ends, set remains overall attractive as an object. One spine has been sunned to a chocolate color.
Text block paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this fine monumental early 20th century set survives.
