The Shipwreck: Showing What Sometimes Happens on the Sea Coasts: Also Giving a Particular Account of a Poor Sailor Boy, Who as Refused Any Assistance by the Wreckers, and Who Died in Consequence of their Inhuman Conduct.
Published c. 1840, New York by the American Tract Society.
16 pages. Text in English. Illustrated with three woodcuts (2 with slight evidence of some early hand color).

Scarce American juvenile relating to the sea. Told in verse form, ending with the death of the child, a fairly common occurrence in juvenile stories of this era and earlier.

Publisher's pictorial paper wrappers, original string binding cord still present and holding.

Item is physically old and shows some clear heavy signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding age worn, well damp stained and age soiled (likely from handling), many page corners curled over, remains overall attractive as an object.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.
