The Great White South: Being an Account of Experiences with Captain Scott's South Pole Expedition and of the Nature Life of the Antarctic, by Herbert G. Ponting.
Published 1922, New York, by Robert M. McBride & Co. First Edition.
305 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout with 164 b&w photos and a map.
Publisher's cloth binding, gilt title lettering and cover decorations. Larger nicer edition than the reprint issued a year later.
Binding is rubbed and a bit worn, but text block remains sound and tight, mostly very clean, just some minor light foxing to a few pages.
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
