(Old Magazines, Early 20th Century Periodicals, Americana, New England, Connecticut, Stamford, Daily Advocate, Triennial Edition, Portraits, Advertising).
The Daily Advocate, Stamford, Connecticut Triennial Industrial Edition.
Published June 24th, 1909, Stamford, Connecticut. Newspaper.
34 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout.
Illustrated pictorial lithographed paper wrappers.
Splendid, and due to it's large oversized format, inherently fragile self-promotional item of this city newspaper, it's leading citizens and the city itself. Some great early interior shop views and windows as well as transitory street views, birds-eyes, mule-drawn cart, a motorcycle, etc. Most photos attributed.
Contents well printed, pleasing ornamental and decorative designs, nice visual feel to the photographic images. Printed on a substantial tinted and glossy paper stock (not cheap and now acidic newsprint stock used for daily newspapers and pulp paperbacks, comics, etc.).
Like most specific newspaper-related periodicals of this era, a scarce item to find clean and well preserved overall.
Binding remains reasonably clean, tight, and sound, much nicer than expected.
Light overall age wear, small chipping along the edges, scattered small spotting, some short closed edge splits, etc.- but given most examples of this item no longer survive, this one is certainly nicer than typical for large periodicals printed over 100 years ago.
Paper remains overall clean, and displays a pleasing age patina.
Item well preserved and attractive. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.
