Souvenir of Teixeira's Manufacturers and Exporters of Finest Handmade Madeira Embroideries.
Published c. 1939, Madeira by J.A. Teixeira & Co.
16 B&W photographic plates, plus card stock covers. Text in English, Spanish, & Portuguese. Rare pre-WW II tourist souvenir.
Nicely printed rotogravure type plates interspersed with text leaves or other relating printing.
Charming local production, a well done self promotional item resembling a picture postcard album, but with much more business information. Includes a series of wonderful behind the scenes look at the factory, showing workers and rooms.
Oblong pictorial card stock paper covers, original decorative binding string, numerous text leaves printed on thinner paper interspersed.
Souvenir is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Fragile binding gently age worn, cover with crease down center now backed with archival tape, remains overall clean and very attractive as an object. A rare survival, almost certainly from someone who visited the island where it was printed and locally distributed among tourists.
Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.
