Period 1/4 leather binding, raised bands, gilt title lettering and compartment decorations. Gilt faded, leather scuffed and stained, short splitting at base of spine joints, still tight and firm. Marbled covers and end papers.

Binding remains clean, tight, and sound. Interior contents clean and bright, largely free of any age spotting, some minor old edge damp staining to first few page corners, etc.

Book remains in good antiquarian condition. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive. A handsome monumental book that retains a pleasing shelf appearance. Interior contents fascinating and beautiful.
