Three Vassar Girls in South America. A Holiday Trip of Three College Girls Through the Southern Continent, Up the Amazon, Down the Madeira, Across the Andes, and Up the Pacific Coast to Panama, by Elizabeth W. Champney.
Published 1884, Boston, Estes & Lauriat.
239 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout.
Lovely 19th century gift book which was issued in different binding styles, this one in color lithographed covers being the most fragile and subject to damage.
Illustrated paper covered boards. Binding remains clean, tight, and sound, light wear along edges, small chipping to paper along joints, corners slightly bumped. Interior contents display a pleasing age patina, largely free of age spotting.
Despite wear mentioned, actually much nicer than typical for this type of binding in this era.
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
