Les Tresors des Bibliotheques de France.
Published 1925-38, Paris by G. Van Oest.
24 volumes: vols. 1-5 (a consecutive complete run of individually issued fascicules), each c. 100 pages. Text in French.
Profusely illustrated throughout including countless full page plates printed on one side only, many in color, plus original engravings throughout (so labelled on the lettered tissue guards).
A rare early 20th century bibliophile set with wonderful content.
Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch video prior to purchase to ensure a full understanding of the book/set/item.
Publisher's paper wrappers, all sheets loose within fascicules as issued, hand made paper, many color tipped on plates, an assortment of original etchings and engravings throughout- a splendid production, clearly expensive when issued.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings gently age worn, joints slightly scuffed, set remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved and clean.
Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this wonderful rare vintage set survives.
