Westerly High School Graduation 1877-90 Blivens Opera House ceremonies lot x 8
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints(Americana, Souvenir Programs, Graduation Programs, Travel, Menus).
Lot x 8 old Westerly Rhode Island High School items- American Souvenir Programs - High School & College Graduation.
Published 1877-90.
8 different and undoubtedly rare original items. Most printed, one hand written retaining ornate ribbon used to tie it together.
Publisher's paper wrappers, each item bi-folded sheets printed on all four sides, final item a 13 pp. 1885 H.S. Graduation Essay evidently written in cursive in the hand of a young Carrie E. Sullivan. We note two of the graduation events were held at the now long lost Bliven's Opera House, a local public theatre building used for vaudville acts, stage performances and large events which later burned to the ground.
Lot is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Lot is not new or in "new" condition.
Paper covers gently age worn, slight rubbing, various signs of time, overall lot remains clean, each attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, signs of handling, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. The fragile lot displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this totally unique and one of a kind lot survives. We wonder if any other examples of this H.S. ceremony relating to the Bliven's are still extant?
Covers measure c. 8" H x 5 1/4" W.
