A set of two mid-19th century books aimed at self-improvement. The volumes contains selections of literature and moral essays. An interesting look at the education and social values of the 1830's and 40's.
Both books remain mostly clean & tight, light scattered foxing throughout, front cover of one book detached as seen in video.
One of the books has four early photos of young women tipped in, possibly girl-friends of the young man who owned the book at some early stage.
