L' Amerique Septentrionale qui fait partie des Indies Occidentales..
Issued 1719, Paris by Chiquet.
Original early 18th century copper engraved map with original outline hand color.
An iconic map, among the most pleasing visually of the era.
Note the sea monster off the coast of Nova Scotia Canada. Fantastic strong depiction of California as an island, among the essential maps depicting this fantastic myth while it was active cartographically.
Sheet is uniformly well age toned! Please note this toning.
Overall, remains a nice looking example with pleasant age patina. Beautiful map, worthy of display. A minor short 1/2" blank margin edge split lower left, now nicely closed on reverse with tiny piece archival tape and invisible once framed for display.
Sheet size c. 8 x 11”.
Engraved area c. 6 1/2” x 9”.
Pictures show this nice map well. Please review them carefully at your leisure so you may clearly see what you are buying.
