(New England-United States)
Issued c.1875-80, Philadelphia by E. H. Butler
Scarce 19th century pocket promotional map in original gilt lettered cloth boards. Bond paper, lithographed map with original hand color.
Of interest for the overprinted red text across top and bottom blank margins that the map was given as a present by the publisher.
Pebble cloth boards, embossed in blind outline rules, central gilt title.
As originally issued long ago, an actual antique/ vintage printed pocket map and sheet of paper, not a modern copy or reprint. The binding & paper sheet shows various signs of age, but if we are offering it for sale, you can be 100% certain it is entirely worthy of ownership by even the most discerning collector or dealer.
Covers slightly faded with some old scattered staining. Map sheet is clean, remains well preserved, keeping in mind it is not modern or new, so minor flaws to paper unworthy of specific mention are sometimes to be expected. Some light age wear or surface spotting/ soiling, which is hopefully visible within the images- all of minimal aesthetic or monetary concern.
Paper, binding and image remain overall clean & sound. Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.
Boards measure c. 5 3/8 " H x 3 5/8 " W.
Map sheet measures c. 9 3/8" H x 11 3/8" W
