Southern United States 1797 Mississippi Georgia Territory 1804 A. BradleyBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
Map of the Southern Parts of the United States of America by Abraham Bradley, Jun.
(Mississippi Georgia Territory- West Florida- North Carolina).
Issued 1797- 1804, for Morse. Engraved with corrections by the author (A. Bradley).
Fascinating and uncommon late 18th century American produced map, found here in a scarce revised 1804 state.
Depicts the historical era when the Federal Government was in disputes with states over boundaries and indeed, a dotted line demarks one such boundary in Georgia between the state and the vast western territory across to the Mississippi river. Numerous annotations giving the number of men in particular Indian tribes, etc.
The 1797 version has "Georgia Western" whereas this much scarcer 1804 amended state of the same engraved plate now has "Mississippi" for the vast region west of South Carolina & Georgia.
Various wrinkling and old spotting with light damp staining in spots, left edge backed by old paper. Video captures overall condition much better than words.
Sheet measures c. 8 1/2" x 15 1/2".
Printed area measures c. 7 3/4" x 14 3/4".
