Texas Railroads

(North America, United States, Texas, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Railroads).

Issued 1908, Chicago by Rand McNally.

Large, oversized early 20th century color lithographed map, composed of two sheets as issued. One of numerous variant issues from early in the century.

Overprinted in red to highlight the railroad lines then running within the state, extensively numbered and corresponding to the long key below the titles at bottom center and right.

Not to be confused with the much more common smaller maps by this same maker, this scarce brief state issue is from the much more expensive and scarcer monumental Business Atlas. This size allows for much more detail, if framed and displayed in a public space, this huge map could occupy a large wall and attract much attention and close inspection.

Well preserved, nice looking example with pleasing age patina. Short edge tear nicely closed on reverse with archival tape and now almost invisible when viewing map.

Sheets Measure c. 20 1/2" x 28".

Printed Areas Measure c. 19" x 27 1/2".
