(Old Maps, 19th Century Maps, North America, United States, Antebellum South, New England, Midwest, Texas, California).
Issued c. 1852, Paris by Andriveau-Goujon.

Map consists of two sheets, please see photos.
Of particular interest is the appearance of "Colona" for Colorado, shown in a small outline form next to a vast Utah Territory which also names Nevada within it. The thin and short-lived Confederate Territory of Arizona is shown below a vast New Mexico territory. Washington Territory extends from the Pacific to the Rockies, as does Oregon although Shoshone is named within it creating a highly unusual configuration of boundaries which only appears in this assortment on very few maps of this era. Minnesota Territory includes an area called "Dagota", which is also unusual and short-lived. A genuinely fascinating historical map in a near wall size format.
Remains clean and nice looking example with a pleasing age patina. Any age flaws are minor and easy to overlook or forgive. Rare map.
