The United States of America.
(North America, United States, Western Territory, Georgia, West Florida, East Florida, District of Maine, Virginia, New York).
Issued c. 1823, London by Ellis.
A very scarce early 19th century engraved map with beautiful original hand color.
Note Georgia still reaches across to the Mississippi river, a vast Western Territory prior to Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, etc. Place names include the Jersey Company, Ohio Company, numerous forts and tribal Indians, etc.
With a subtle and easy to miss institutional blind stamp in the lower right corner in the blank ocean near the distance graticule line. Does not affect the map in any way.
Well preserved, nice looking example with pleasing age patina.
Sheet Measures c. 16" H x 11 5/8" W.
Engraved Area Measures c. 11" H x 9" W.
