The apocryphal "River of the West" shown apparently connecting Hudson Bay with the Pacific ocean. Mythical Kingdom of Quivira named, Russian discoveries along the coastline leading to Alaska with notation mentioning Admiral de Fuente, curious mountain range running east-west from California, the east coast English colonies identified as belonging to England, etc. Strapwork and vegetation cartouche lower right.
Two page analysis in French describing the history and interesting facts concerning the European holdings in North America affixed on either side of map by publisher when issued.
Light uniform paper age toning, original fold line, remaining clean - a pleasing and well preserved visual example.
