Issued New York, 1879 by Alvin J. Johnson & Son. Scarce late issue which still depicts pony express & mail route routes, early exploration routes of Fremont, the "proposed" southern Pacific R.R. line, the lines already built, gold mines, etc.
Lovely antique engraved and lithographed map with original hand color.
Nice decorative scroll work border unique to this era.
In attractive well preserved condition; light old dampstaining along sides which is light and easy to forgive visually; minor light surface age wear and toning as typical. Overall the image is clean, and of keen historical interest.
Original fold line as issued.
