Of note for the clear depiction of California as a separate island off the coast of North America, a short-lived cartographic curiosity which is widely collected today. The outline shape of Australia is still uncertain, as is the connection status of Van Diemens island to it. Discoveries of de Gama mentioned, as is the Strait of Anian off a pre-Cook exploration Alaska coastline here essentially unknown.

Overall, remains a nice looking example with very pleasant age patina.
