(Old Maps, 19th Century Maps, World Maps, North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Topographical Surveys, Australia, New Zealand, Unexplored Regions).
Issued 1890, Edinburgh by John Bartholomew & Co for the Edinburgh Geographical Institute.
Shows the extent of accurate and reliable mapping up to this point.
Scarce late 19th century color lithographed map issued for the Scottish Geographical Magazine, possibly unique to that publication.
Nice looking example with pleasing age patina. The paper is fairly brittle and the fold lines have long splits which have been nicely closed on the reverse with archival tape and are hardly visible when viewing the map.
Original fold lines as issued.
