Issued 1844, NY by Harper & Brothers. Engraved by Charles Copley.
Fine large mid-19th century engraved map with lovely hand color. Printed on bond paper.
A scarce map not from an atlas, printed on a sturdy bond paper.
Uncommon map which captures the various political boundaries of this vast portion of the world at an interesting historical moment just prior to the middle of the century. Particularly interesting are the boundaries within Southeast Asia, including Siam, Cambodia, Cochin-China, Burmah, "Bhotan" and Nepal, etc. Also, the anglicized versions of the locations are interesting as well.
Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
