Published c1814-25 by Darton & Harvey with woodcut portraits by Wells.

With early female owners name of Mary Wheeler Bolton.

Miniature book in original period full leather (roan) binding, spine gilt lettered and ruled.

Poor condition! Incomplete like many juveniles of this early period which manage to survive.

Contains 27 tiny woodcut portraits (of 47), so lacking 20 portraits plus various scattered text leaves.

Clearly resewn early on by an owner, text block shaken, missing pages, some pages defective or with edge damage, etc.

Leather remains supple, small spine hole.

Offered as it survives, still a very 200 year old charming miniature object intended for a child. Probably over 90-95% of the examples ever made have now long since perished or vanished. Any& all examples worthy of consideration, their age flaws enhancing the appeal.

Book measures 2.5”H x 2 .25” W.
