Brick: A Monthly Magazine Devoted to Brick, Tile, Terra Cotta, and Allied Clay Industries.
Published 1899, Chicago by H.H. Windsor.
296 pages. Text in English. Illustrated throughout. De-accessioned former library bound periodical run.

Period 1/2 leather binding, marbled covers. Book is partially disbound and loosened, rendering the individual issues somewhat shaken. With a couple small scattered old rubber and perforated name stamps towards the front.

A very curious trade journal, who knew there was ever a substantial and deeply detailed illustrated monthly magazine aimed at the brick and clay working industry? And it remains utterly fascinating to look through and read today.  The potentially perfect gift for that special someone (maybe a builder, a tile business owner, a mason or landscaper, etc.) who has virtually everything they could reasonably want. They absolutely do not have this, nor did they likely even know it even existed, so gift away in total confidence of a surprise!

A rare magazine due largely to a small circulation to begin with and the small historical incentive to save magazine back issues during the massive national paper drives of the world wars. Not to mention the normal discarding of used old magazines just like today, etc. It seems to follow and make sense that any and all surviving examples of this esoteric and incredibly specialized 120 year old magazine should be considered rare today.

Binding well age worn from handling, complete loss of spine leather exposing binder's stitching and text block signatures, rear cover detached, text block (which is a bound run of 6 monthly journal issues) broken into two parts. Book still remains overall attractive as a turn of the 20th century book which survives only by random chance of luck. Quite possibly a one-of-a kind survival.

Text block paper is gently toned, but overall very clean and fresh, internally still well preserved.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
