Published c. 1890, New York, Paris, & London by Raphael Tuck & Sons.
24 chromolithographed plates (complete), each with separate descriptive text leaf identifying a key line of the character within Dicken's fiction. Text in English. [Joseph Clayton Clarke (1857 8 August 1937), who worked under the pseudonym "Kyd"]
Publisher's cloth binding, gilt pictorial decorations & title lettering.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, joints slightly scuffed, small minor staining and edge wear, binding remains clean, bright overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, the glue used for the binding has dried and crumbled so all the sheets are now cleanly loose creating a portfolio item (typical for this work), internally still clean and pleasing, couple images with some very minor small peripheral spotting.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this 19th century color plate book survives.
