Devil Charles Fox angel British political satire cartoon c1780 engraved print
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints

Original 18th century copper engraved print.
"The Fox in the Horrors, A Vision".
Note the devil figures, one at bottom right behind a chair reaching into a bag of presumably gold coins.
An early use of word balloons within a cartoon image!
Print mounted long ago to a large backing sheet once within a scrapbook.
Pictures capture condition and print well.
Engraved print measures c.6 1/2“H x 4“ W.
Backing sheet is large with margins that allow print to be framed. On reverse are remnants of old text scraps from either a newspaper or periodical of the era.
A google search of the image will likely bring up the context and background that helps unlock what is being represented.
Unique and scarce survival.
