(Old Book, 19th Century Books, Illustrated Books, Books with Maps, Crimean War, Siege of Sebastopol).

The Powers of Europe and the Fall of Sebastopol, by A British Officer.
Published 1856, Boston by Higgins and Bradley.
404 pages. Text in English. Illustrated through with wood engraved plates protected by original tissue guards. Engraved folding map at front.

Publisher's cloth binding, elaborate pictorial gilt spine lettering & decorations, embossed cover designs. With large folding panoramic birds-eye view (92 specific features identified in the key below it) of the "Battlefield of the Nations" around the Black Sea and Sebastopol (by Higgins and Bradley of Boston).

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition but is nicer than typical for cloth bindings of this era.

Binding gently age worn, joints slightly scuffed, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently toned, light scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this fine antique book survives.
