New Sun in the Sky.
(Americana, Sheet Music, Fred Astaire, The Band Wagon, Arthur Schwartz).
Cover art by John Held, Jr.
Issued 1931, New York by Harms Incorporated.
Splendid and uncommon early 20th century color lithographed sheet music for the song "New Sun in the Sky", from the Broadway Musical "The Band Wagon".
The cover shows Fred & Adele Astaire and their costars as floating heads atop a parade wagon full of fun loving party revelers drawn in a masterful Deco technique by one of the great commercial artists of the Jazz Age.
A very elusive example of the widely beloved John Held Jr.'s flapper girl style art deco illustration technique. Probably among the most difficult items to acquire if you are an enthusiastic collector of this great artist since the tiny scribbled signature would not be recognized by many viewers.
Well preserved, nice looking example with pleasing age patina, various mostly very minor age issues.
The wonderful photo-montage technique cover presents very well, quite clean, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Original folding single leaf.
Covers Measures c. 12" H x 9 1/8" W.
