(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Vellum Books, Italian History).
Storia Pittorica Della Italia Dal risorgimento delle Belle Arti fin presso al fine del XVIII Secolo, by Luigi Lanzi.
Published 1809, Bassano by Giuseppe Remondini e Figli.
4 volumes, each c. 375 pages. Text in Italian. Bound with many of the original paper wrapper coverings for the separately published parts.
Old 1/4 Italian vellum bindings, smooth spines, gilt title lettering on contrasting red & black leather labels, deckled edges, marbled end papers. Bindings likely over 100 years old but not from 1809 era.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings gently age worn, leather rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed, set remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this scarce antique Italian set survives.
