Geological Map of the Trap Range of Keweenaw Point, Lake Superior.
(North America, United States, Midwest, Great Lakes Region, Michigan, Upper Peninsula, Keweenaw Point, Lake Superior, Geology).
Issued 1863, Philadelphia by R.L. Barnes. Map by William H. Stevens, Samuel W. Hill & C.P. Williams.
Oversized Civil War era lithographed map with lovely hand color. Backed long ago on sturdy linen. Perhaps intended for individual sale based on imprint.
Very scarce mid-19th century U.S. Government map of this western location. Not found within Marcou, which is surprising given the size, scale, location and date of publication.
Across the bottom is a cross sectional elevation which begins and ends with Lake Superior on either side and corresponds with the map above. Three specific mines are named and shown with the shaft layouts.
Sheet Measures c. 21 3/4" H x 49 3/4" W.
Printed Area Measures c. 19 1/2" H x 49 1/2" W.
