(Old Maps, 20th Century Maps, Travel, Tourism, Asia, China, Manchuria, Port Arthur, Lu-Shun, City Plan).
Issued 1913, Tokyo Japan by the Imperial Japanese Railway
Very detailed and quite scarce early 20th century folding harbor city plan. Color lithographed on a thin bond-type paper.
Fine detailed plan with an inset at upper left of Environs of Lu-Shun. Below the title is a list of 6 locations including a Bank, Hotel, Telegraph Office and Theatre. Many more buildings and sites are named beyond these including the "shrine dedicated to the bones of the Loyal dead", a Red Cross hospital, military trophies museum, various military buildings, etc.
As originally issued long ago on thin paper, an actual antique/ vintage printed sheet of paper, not a modern copy or reprint. The paper sheet could show various minor signs of age, there could be a small minor archival tape repair on the back, etc. but if we are offering it for sale, you can be 100% certain it is entirely worthy of ownership by even the most discerning collector or dealer.
An urban cartographic depiction captured in a manner entirely unique to this era.
Original fold-lines as issued.
Sheet measures c. 8 3/4" H x 12 1/8 " W.
The narrow blank margin at lower right is as issued by the publisher to facilitate folding.
