Period 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands, marbled covers, gilt cover lettering on leather label indicates it belonged to and was used by the Speaker of the House, who at this time was F.B. Crowninshield. He has signed it as well on the front fly leaf.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding well age worn, joints cracked, covers loose and held by binding cords, spine leather chipped with loss, still remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, internally well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
