Stanfield's Coast Scenery: A Series of Views in the British Channel from Original Drawings Taken Expressly for the Work, by Clarkson Stanfield.
Published 1836, London by Smith, Elder & Co.
128 pages. Text in English. Engraved frontis & half title protected by original tissue guard. Profusely illustrated throughout.

Period full decorative leather binding, gilt title lettering, gilt pictorial cover & spine decorations, all edges & turn ins gilt, embossed ruled covers.

Book is approaching 200 years old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding gently age worn but still bright, clean and very appealing, leather rubbed but still supple, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently toned, most engravings very clean with any spotting confined to wide blank margins, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this beautiful early 19th century book survives. While the title may not be particularly rare, examples which survive in this condition are.
