Attractive and very uncommon large engraved mid-19th century antique map with original hand color. 

Very detailed, with a color key at bottom to left of distance scales which indicates which colonial powers controlled which areas at this time. Inset top left of Oualo. Mountains of Kong named along the entire interior running parallel to the shore line.

A map which only appeared briefly in a very limited number of versions of a monumental Brue atlas.

Paper and image remains clean and well preserved with a fine patina and visual appeal.

Original center fold as issued.

Sheet measures c. 19 1/8" H x 24 3/4" W.

Printed area measures c. 14 3/8" H x 20 1/8" W.
