(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Travel, Science, Travelogue, Alexander von Humboldt, South America, Geography, Mountaineering).

Personal Narrative of Travels to the Equinoctical Regions of the New Continent During the Years 1790-1804, by Alexander de Humboldt and Aime Bonpland.
Published 1815, Philadelphia by M. Carey.
430 pages. Text in English, translated by Helen Maria Williams. Two volumes in one, complete.

Publisher's paper covered boards, paper title label (now well chipped), deckled edges entirely untrimmed as issued.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition. Rare in this "temporary" early publishers paper boards binding.

Binding age worn as typical given the fragile nature, spine paper heavily chipped, covers held firmly by binding cords, mostly light or inoffensive signs of handling and time but nothing severe or unsightly, front free blank endpaper with name torn away across top, book remains overall attractive as an object.

Paper is heavily and well toned, heavy foxing, still tight, sound internally.

Still attractive on the shelf. The book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail showing how this book survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books, maps and printed ephemera of all types and genres. Flaws seen and/ or described have been taken into account.

Book Measures c. 9 1/2" H x 6" W.
