Schau-Blatt der Nature
Published 1749, Vienna by Peter Conrad Monath.
692 pages. Text in German. 29 folding copper engraved plates & maps, including 4 four large folding celestial night sky plates showing constellations plus numerous maps, some astronomical diagrams, etc..
Period vellum binding. Spine vellum cracked with substantial loss to spine covering (please see photos).
Rare work with strong cartographic interest, including four nice folding oblong plates (two sets of two) showing the sky hemisphere constellations.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, vellum is stained, book remains structurally sound, tight, still overall uniquely attractive as a mid-18th century object.
Text block paper is clean, internally well preserved, little staining or soiling, plates are toned, any flaws of a minor type unworthy of specific mention.
Still attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.
Book Measures c. 6 3/4" H x 4 1/2" W.
