Heidelberg Germany 1870's Album artwork photos special

Excellent unique 19th century travel souvenir album relating to Heidelberg, Germany. Gift inscription dated 1879 from the creator of the album.

Leather spine gilt lettered, likely more recent than the boards but still done long ago.

Wooden oblong board covers, possibly created entirely by the original artist who made it. The ornamentation and pictorial elements appear to our eyes to be original art. Composed of 18 hand worked card stock leaves, each with original art. First leaf is fancy old-style calligraphy in colors followed by 17 leaves of mounted photographs, each with border art done by hand.

Measures 8 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W x 1 1/2" thick.
