Period French 1/4 leather bindings, raised bands, gilt title lettering, marbled covers and end papers.
Profusion of 40 portrait engravings interspersed throughout the history set, all signed within the plate by the engraver.
Bindings remain clean, tight, and sound. Some scuffing and wear to spine ends, leather and joints still supple and sound. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Interior contents display a pleasing age patina. A handsome illustrated European history set with a stately shelf appearance.
