London Crystal Palace c.1851 Optical Toy diorama 3-D effect hand color rare
Brian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold Coins
(London- Crystal Palace- Exhibitions- fountains)
Issued c.1851-5, London. (perhaps for Dean's Toy Books).
Charming mid-19th century diorama depicting the interior of the London Crystal palace. Six separate layers, all attached as issued with paper tabs.
Lithographed with original hand color. Delightful optical toy, intended to give a three dimensional experience.
Minor light toning and small scattered age spotting as typical for prints and maps of this vintage, perhaps small minor paper flaws, couple small minor old paper repairs, but to our eyes and for most people, an entirely acceptable and nice looking example.
Very fragile item with a low survival rate, no doubt rare in any condition.
Printed areas and object overall measure c. 5 1/4" x 6 1/4".
