19th century 1/2 leather binding, spine richly ornamentally gilt stamped and decorated with title. Marbled boards and endpapers. Book appears to be complete as bound, no evidence or signs of removal, alteration, etc.
Possibly created to suit the original owner, possible one of a kind item. Interesting and likely unique 19th century album of fine images, made during an era when color printing was a visual luxury and specialized craft.
Composed of 72 fine "high-key" intricately detailed chromolithographs by L. Lott of Vienna. All images printed on one side only, blank versos, no title page, leaves sequentially numbered, complete, unknown source or purpose.
Fine series of miniature medieval paintings depicting classical Christian iconography involving the life of Christ, biblical scenes, virgins, saints, etc.
The art of 19th century multiple stone printed chromolithography at the highest European level of the craft. Book is priced at c. $10/ printed image.
