The History of Napoleon Buonaparte.
Published 1830, London by John Murray.
2 volumes. 372, 377 pages. Text in English. Engraved frontises protected by original tissue guards. Illustrated throughout with 15 steel and wood engraved plates.
Wonderful period full diced morocco leather bindings, smooth spines handsomely gilt decorated with patterns and lettered on contrasting black leather labels, gilt ruled covers around embossed ornamental dots surrounding diamond diced boards, cover edges gilt.
Set is very well preserved; still physically old and shows some light minor signs of handling and time. The set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings gently rubbed and age worn but leather is still supple, gilt is bright, set remains overall extremely attractive as a survival of this era.
Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and completely unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws are minor and thus easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this rare and fine antique set about Napoleon survives.
