Peterson's Magazine. 1864. American Civil War Year Annual volume.
Published monthly, New York.
12 monthly issues January - December 1864, 464 pages.
With twelve (12) hand colored dress fashion plates, 12 color lithographed plates, numerous steel engravings and many wood engraved images throughout.
Period 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine gilt lettered and ruled into compartments. Binding slightly shaken, joints cracked, however book remains tight and sound.
Profusely illustrated monthly journal aimed at domestic women in America in the middle of the 19th century.
Binding a bit rubbed and age worn from handling, small chipping at spine head, joints cracked but holding well, overall still sound, tight, and mostly clean. Attractive looking book. Minor flaws to contents, some page corners bent, minor small scattered soiling or spotting, never anything offensive or severe.
Entirely acceptable if not nice looking example in an attractive original period binding.
Book measures: 9 5/8" H X 6 3/8" W.
