The Valley of the St. Croix: Picturesque and Descriptive.
Published 1888, Neenah, Wisconsin by Art Publishing Company (George B. Pratt).
Scarce pictorial work originally issued in 8 parts which were sold by subscription. A very unusual imprint, we locate no other works from this publisher currently available for sale on line at his writing.
Period 1/2 leather binding, old library cloth tape recovering of spine and corners (likely because original leather had dried and was chipping). Marbled end papers. Small square cut out from title page and backed with similar paper.
Contains 42 photographic leaves (card stock paper) with lovely rotogravure images containing 80+ different views, buildings and images, plus assorted leaves of text- all leaves printed on one side only.
A very scarce late 19th century photographic chronicle view book of this scenic mid-western region.
Contents remain clean and bright. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Book measures: 13 3/4" H X 11 1/4" W.
