216 pages. Text in English. Illustrations including engraved frontis and half title protected by original tissue guards. Total of 72 full page engraved plates and a folding map.

Period 1/2 leather binding, slightly raised bands, gilt bands and title lettering, marbled end papers.

Binding remains clean, tight, and sound. Interior contents display a pleasing age patina, with some light to at times moderate scattered spotting. Images remain mostly clean and pleasing. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.

Early owner's inscription: R.P. Mallory, No. 96 Washington Street, Boston (he signed twice- on blank tissue guard and at the top of the front paste down). Richard P. Mallory of Boston was a talented artist/engraver of mid 19th century American scenes.
