Published 1844, London by the Caxton Press.
3 volumes, 136, 132, 120 pages. Text in English.
Total of 193 engraved plates throughout. (set priced at $3.50 per engraving).
Period 1/2 leather bindings, elaborate gilt compartment decorations, gilt title lettering on contrasting red leather labels.
Bindings remain clean, tight, and sound, leather is supple with overall scuffing as seen. Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Interior contents display some moderate, scattered age spotting, but never offensive. Plates usually clean.
Handsome and monumental set with a lovely shelf appearance and beautiful contents. Set appears to be largely complete, perhaps lacking a small handful of engravings (possibly binding errors).
