Fine and very uncommon old map. Of particular for the depiction of various interior details. These include a named mythical Mountains of the Moon (Donga), a Grand Ethiopian plateau which has notes below it describing how the area is unknown to Europeans, etc.

Sheet has clearly been subjected to some of the ravages of time. It is in what is technically called poor condition. For instance, there is some old dampstaining which has left tide marks. There are small assorted scattered spots, stains, marks, short edge splits, etc. which indicate the map has been handled, examined and generally used over the past 180 years. Please understand the item is far from perfect. However, as full time dealers for over 25 years, in our eyes we still like it. It's a pretty scarce printed image, and people who truly understand old sheets of paper and how they sometimes survive will know this and still want it. For them, and us, the condition issues seen and described will be easy to accept.

We've priced the map rather low according to condition. If condition is central for you, this is not the right item.

Map remains well preserved. Some light age wear or surface spotting/ soiling which is visible within the scan.

Paper and image remains overall clean & sound. Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.
