Issued 1850, Philadelphia by Thomas Cowperthwait.
Fine uncommon mid 19th century lithographed map with original hand color. Large detailed inset of Liberia Republic with text discussing slaves and geography. The vast "Unexplored Interior" is near a note recording the "farthest point reached by the Egyptian Expedition in 1840". The apocryphal Mts. of the Moon is shown cutting across the middle interior. Colonial possessions are listed below the title at top right.
Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
