Africa continent Mountains of Moon huge 1837 Tardieu Perrot miniature mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
Issued Paris, c.1837 by Perrot. Engraved by Pierre Tardieu.
Uncommon and charming small miniature format 19th century map. Almost primitive looking, engraved with original crude outline hand color utterly unique to the era and method of hand production at this time (likely children).
Of note for the unbroken apocryphal chain called Mountains of the Moon across the entire interior of the continent, none of the three major lakes within the interior of East Africa.
From a pocket sized atlas which had a small circulation and is therefore rarely encountered as a loose map today.
Sheet is well age toned and spotted as seen.
A scarce little antique map with fine patina and historical cartographic appeal.
Sheet measures c. 10 1/2" W x 7" H.
Printed area measures c. 7 3/8" W x 5 1/2" H.
