Attractive and decorative early 19th century antique engraved map with original hand color. Most pleasing example, oceans with light pale green wash hand coloring which contrast nicely with the strong outline coloring and mellowed age appearance of the paper.
Nice coloring to Australia emphasizes New South Wales coast. A gigantic and prominent apocryphal Kong and Mountains of the Moon ranges seen cutting across the interior of central Africa. This is course also the historical supposed source of the Nile river, as shown here.
Paper and printed area remains well preserved, some light inoffensive age spots as always, a nice example of this map. Please inspect scan closely as it capture how the map survives visually.
Sheet measures c. 10 1/4" x 14".
Printed area measures c. 8 1/2" x 11 1/2".
